Ravens DE Calais Campbell still in concussion protocol; CB Kevon Seymour only player to test positive for COVID
Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell remained in concussion protocol Wednesday after missing the team’s 16-10 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, coach John Harbaugh said.
Campbell participated in the beginning portion of practice about 90 minutes after Harbaugh spoke, indicating he might be in the final stage of the protocol.
Campbell was one of the team’s most durable players through the first 11 weeks of the season, and Harbaugh said his recovery from concussion symptoms was “very encouraging” at the end of last week. He was on the sideline for Sunday night’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
“We’ll just see where it goes,” Harbaugh said.
In addition to Campbell, cornerback Jimmy Smith (neck) and wide receiver Miles Boykin (finger) returned to practice after missing Sunday’s game.
Ten Ravens did not participate in the portion of practice visible to reporters: wide receiver Devin Duvernay, cornerbacks Anthony Averett, Tavon Young and Chris Westry, fullback Patrick Ricard, outside linebacker Justin Houston, offensive linemen Patrick Mekari, Cedric Ogbuehi and Bradley Bozeman and tight end Nick Boyle.
In other health news, Harbaugh said cornerback Kevon Seymour was the only Raven to test positive for COVID-19 this week. Seymour went on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday afternoon.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, meanwhile, could be without one of their most important players in outside linebacker T.J. Watt (12 ½ sacks, 20 quarterback hits), who also went on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday. Harbaugh said the Ravens are preparing as if Watt will play.
