Amesbury shooting: Man shot in knee during alleged robbery, police searching for suspects

Amesbury police are searching for two suspects who were allegedly involved in an armed robbery and shooting that left a man injured Monday morning.

A 26-year-old white man was shot in the knee and transported to Portsmouth Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the private residence robbery on Mill Street between 8 and 9 a.m.

The shooting victim, Robert Coote, gave a statement to police at the hospital.

Coote and the two suspects apparently know each other, according to police.

The suspects are described as two white males with shaved heads. One was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt with North Face written on the front in white print.

A witness said the suspects left the scene in a 2019 gray Nissan Altima with Massachusetts license plate 8TM 845.

“We feel confident they have left the area, but police are searching the area with canines,” police said in a statement. “There is no threat to public safety at this time.”

Police are urging any witnesses to call 978-388-1212.
