Red Sox trade veteran utility infielder to Mets

The Red Sox traded Pablo Reyes to the New York Mets Saturday, in exchange for cash considerations.

Acquired from the Oakland A’s early last season, the utilityman, 30, had a strong ‘23 campaign, hitting .287 with a .716 OPS in 64 games for the ‘23 Sox. He collected 48 hits, including nine doubles and two homers, 20 RBI, 27 runs, was 7-for-9 in stolen-base attempts, drew 14 walks and only struck out 21 times.

However, in his 21 games with the big-league team this season, he hit just .183 with a .451 OPS and 11 hits (two for extra bases), striking out 19 times and only drawing three walks before being designated for assignment in April.
