The border crisis will cost President Biden his re-election. That’s the good news.

The bad news is it won’t come soon enough to stem the flood of illegal immigrants taxing services while putting them at risk from within their own ranks.

The Democrats, at least the ones who actually have the courage to push back at the liberal elites running the party into the ground, know the country has hit a tipping point.

Just look at Logan Airport.

As the Herald is reporting, sleeping on the hard floor at the airport is not a solution — it’s crisis control.

Retired Lt. Gen. Scott Rice, who leads the state’s shelter response, said Massachusetts is using “every resource at our disposal to make sure families have a safe, warm place to stay.”

He added: “We are working diligently to open more safety net sites for families arriving in Massachusetts, including those at Logan. Our system is at capacity, and we have repeatedly called for assistance, particularly from the federal government.”

We’ll say what he cannot: President Biden and Gov. Maura Healey need to step in today and halt this insanity. Migrants coming from warm-weather climates are not prepared for the bitter cold and insane housing costs in the northeast.

The southern border is broken and Massachusetts, among others, is seeing the end result.

Since President Biden took office, there have been 7.5 million illegal immigrant encounters nationwide and 6.2 million encounters at the Southwest border, in addition to 1.7 million known gotaways who evaded U.S. Border Patrol, according to a Homeland Security bulletin put out by Republicans.

Biden is now pleading with Mexico to stop the flow of illegal crossings into the U.S., as he continues to repeatedly sue Texas for … trying to stop the flow of illegal crossings into the U.S., the Hill points out.

He can see Nov. 5 closing fast. That’s when voters will choose anyone but Biden.

The president loses to both former President Donald Trump and ex-UN Ambassador Nikki Haley — in every poll taken in the New Year, according to 538.

Yet, here comes The Squad’s Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., who agrees with us that immigration is Biden’s “weakest issue.” She’s going to drive his re-election chances into the dirt. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley are right with AOC.

But even The New York Times, guardian of all things left field, can see the immigration issue is now stuck in Congressional gridlock, reporting that linking immigration reforms to funding for Ukraine is a stalemate.

People die in Ukraine while immigrants sleep on the floor at Logan. The Squad should be proud of themselves.

The Herald has learned that other immigrants needing a warm spot to rest are being housed in the Chinatown library branch. That can’t go over well with those who entered the U.S. legally waiting for a spot to start a new life here.

The Logan embarrassment is just the latest glaring example of the lack of a cohesive plan to address the immigrant crisis. Gov. Healey should stand in front of the White House and address Congress to demand action.

Are political aspirations holding Healey back?

It’s time to push back and seek solutions. People coming here deserve better than a cold floor.
