Accused drug dealer arrested in murder of 13-year-old in Boston

Police have arrested the 34-year-old man they say murdered a 13-year-old last week — and he’s also now up on federal fentanyl-dealing charges.

Csean Alexander Skerritt is in custody, charged with the killing of the teenager, Tyler Lawrence, in Mattapan.

A group of city, state and federal authorities gathered in a press conference announcing the charges on Monday, eight days after Skerritt allegedly gunned down the 13-year-old Lawrence.

District Attorney Kevin Hayden, Police Commissioner Michael Cox and others declined to elaborate further exactly what they believe led to what they say was a 34-year-old man intentionally shooting a child.

Lawrence lives in Norwood, though his grandparents are in the area where he was shot. His slaying has made headlines for the past week, with people around the area holding vigils and voicing sorrow and outrage alike that such a young person was targeted for killing.

Skerritt, who cops said is previously known to them, is currently in federal custody after the FBI captured him in a Sunday raid on Colombia Road on a separate set of charges.

He’s accused of selling 55 grams of the dangerous opioid fentanyl to someone on Feb. 1, a few days after the shooting, according to the office of U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins, who also attended the presser and said she sat in on his federal arraignment earlier in the day.

Little other info on the murder charge was available, but Skerritt will be arraigned in state courts soon, the DA said, and more will be revealed then.

This is a developing story …
