Three wounded, one in critical condition after weekend shootings in Dorchester
Four people were shot in Dorchester on Saturday night and Sunday morning — one left with life threatening injuries — as community leaders have continued to call for action on the recent wave of gun violence.
Before 6 a.m. Sunday, a Boston Police spokesperson said, police responded to a call to 274 Hancock St., finding three victims on the scene.
Two adults, a man and a woman, suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to BPD. One adult man was found in critical condition. All are receiving care at local hospitals as of 11 a.m.
The night before around 10:30 p.m. at 33 Erie St., another shooting was reported. The single victim sustained non-life threatening injuries, BPD said, and is receiving treatment.
Both incidents are subjects of ongoing investigations, the department said, and no arrests have been made.
The shootings come just days after the tragic loss of Herman Maxwell Hylton, 43, of Roxbury, who was fatally shot Wednesday at Celebrity Cuts Barbershop on Washington Street.
Following Hylton’s death, local faith leaders declared a “state of emergency” Friday regarding the gun violence in Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan.
“City government does not have a functional plan,” the Rev. Eugene Rivers told the Herald Wednesday, saying that “strategies for prevention, intervention and enforcement” will have to come from the faith community.
