Massachusetts rep busted for driving drunk 4X over legal limit apologizes for ‘egregious lapse’
Worcester Rep. David LeBoeuf — busted for allegedly driving drunk on I-93 with nine empty nips found in his car — has apologized in a three-part tweet.
It looks as if he’s not resigning, saying he’ll dig in and “rebuild people’s trust” after this “desperate wake-up call.”
He blew 0.329 and 0.317, the police report stated, after driving erratically on Interstate 93 Tuesday and was ultimately arrested in Quincy.
“I am deeply sorry for my egregious lapse in judgment. I am thankful there were no injuries and recognize the pain I have caused my family, friends, and community. I am not making excuses and will work extensively to rebuild people’s trust,” he posted on Twitter Thursday.

He continued: “I struggle with addiction and am committed to getting the treatment necessary so that I can be my best self again.”
Then he adds: “I ask that you respect my family’s privacy so I can work on my recovery and continue to provide services to my district. I’ve tried to manage my sobriety on my own, and this is a desperate wake-up call that I need further support.”
He’s due back in Quincy District Court June 28.
House Speaker Ronald Mariano, D-Quincy, said: “Driving under the influence is a dangerous and often deadly mistake, and I am deeply relieved that no one was injured in this instance. I have been assured by Rep. LeBoeuf that he will be seeking help, and I will support him on his path to recovery.”
LeBoeuf was on Interstate 93 South in Milton shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when State Police received “multiple” 911 calls reporting an erratic driver in a black SUV.
He drove on a flat tire onto Route 3 South to Burgin Parkway in Quincy, where police report he finally stopped.
