Lady Gaga, other celebs have unclaimed property in Massachusetts, treasurer says

Lady Gaga: You could be on the right track, baby, if you visit Find Mass Money.

That’s according to the Massachusetts treasurer’s office, which revealed that the pop icon has unclaimed property in the Bay State.

Treasurer Deborah Goldberg on Thursday announced the latest grouping of names added to the state’s list of unclaimed property owners. More than 55,000 new properties worth millions of dollars belong to individuals and businesses throughout the state, including Stefani Germanotta aka Lady Gaga.

“Put on your poker face and declare what is rightfully yours,” Treasurer Deborah Goldberg said in a statement. “Reach for your telephone and give us a call today to begin the claims process!”

Other famous musicians on the list this year include Pharrell Williams, Steven Tyler, members of New Edition, Yo Yo Ma, Megan Trainor, and Susan Tedeschi.

Treasury releases an updated list of unclaimed property assets every six months as the new accounts are turned over to the state. Last year, Treasury processed more than 113,000 claims of over $174 million in property to its rightful owners.

Unclaimed property includes forgotten savings and checking accounts, uncashed checks, insurance policy proceeds, stocks, dividends, and the contents of unattended safe deposit boxes.

These accounts have had too much hang time and are turned over to the state after three years of inactivity. This newly released list includes only individuals and businesses with unclaimed property over $100.

Call the Unclaimed Property Division at 888-344-MASS (6277) or visit www.findmassmoney.com to start the claims process.
