Film study? Patriots LB Dont’a Hightower wowed by Colts O-lineman’s Instagram highlights
FOXBORO — When Dont’a Hightower has gone on Instagram recently, Quenton Nelson has been a regular on his news feed.
The Colts’ All-Pro left guard has made pancaking opponents look easy, and some of the highlights have made it to Hightower’s eyes. And there was one play that stood out to the Patriots linebacker.
“I’ve seen on Instagram, they post videos of linemen knocking people out, and there’s so many times where you see Quenton Nelson on there,” Hightower said. “You’ll see him knocking somebody out. You go back and you look at the play, it’ll be a fire zone and a guy will drop and it’ll be the backside corner coming and he’ll block his guy (on the line) and just turn around and knock the guy completely out.”
The highlight was so impressive to Hightower that he brought it to Patriots center David Andrews.
“I was like, ‘What protection is this?’” HIghtower said. “(Andrews) was like, ‘Well I don’t know if it’s a protection. I just think he did it on his own.’”
The play only further validated what Hightower thinks of Nelson as he prepares for Saturday night’s game against him.
“Not too much of his IQ I guess is pushed out there, but he’s smart and tough,” Hightower said. “He’s one of the guys you definitely have to be alert for going in. They’re going to run behind him. A lot of what they do is based on how he plays.”
