PSA pumps COVID vaccines to guard against erectile dysfunction

Here’s the hard truth: COVID can cause erectile dysfunction prompting some urologists to back a PSA to pump vaccines.

The public service announcement uses humor to get serious about the risks.

The Cleveland Clinic warns “blood supply to the penis can become blocked or narrowed as a result of a new or worsened vascular condition” caused by the coronavirus. There’s more but that alone is causing the pro-vaccine PSA to skyrocket.

The spot, backed by a “collective of top urologists from across the country,” has some men thinking twice about the jab.

“Not only is it safe, easy, and saves lives, it can also prevent numerous long-term COVID effects. One of which is near and dear to our hearts: the male penis, and it’s ability to function,” the doctors post on Urologists United for Vaccine Education.

They add: “Our goal is to generate awareness and educate the public on this subject, because no one in the world is more passionate about keeping penile tissue healthy than we are.”

The lineup of urologists taking part is impressive. They invite other doctors to join, so the list could grow.

Comedian Tim Meadows, of “Saturday Night Live” fame, is one of the PSA stars that also includes men of all ages.

The urologists also have a quirky hashtag, #SaveTheFutureBoners, that’s just beginning to pop up on social media.

The kicker is if you caught COVID, you are six times more likely to suffer from ED. That can bring you down in more ways than one.

Back to the Cleveland Clinic post: “Sexual activity is closely associated with mental health. The stress, anxiety and depression caused by the virus and pandemic can be linked to sexual dysfunction and poor mood.”

Male fertility is also being studied, especially among young men who catch coronavirus.

The sobering news is doctors just don’t know yet the long-term damage from COVID-19, but they do worry about blood clots, neurological issues, damage to the heart, lungs, kidneys and now male reproductive health.
