Danny V’s high school football Stars of the Week

DIVISION 1

  • Sean Mercuri had 13 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a pick-six as Central Catholic defeated St. John’s (Shrewsbury) for the second time this year, 37-13.
  • Mack Gulla ran for 120 yards and two TDs, also adding a field goal, as Franklin defeated Methuen, 24-7.
  • Jack Perry completed 18-of-26 passes for 323 yards and also ran for a score as St. John’s Prep beat Wachusett 57-20.
  • William Watson threw for 321 yards and three TDs, while picking off a pair of passes, as Springfield Central cruised past Xaverian, 40-15.
  • Josh Karp threw for two scores and ran for two more as Brookline snapped a 23-game losing streak in a 40-29 win over Sharon.
  • Jason Wonodi completed 8-of-12 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 107 yards and a score as Brockton beat Weymouth, 33-14.

DIVISION 2

  • Tyler Lane had 29 carries for 156 yards and two scores as Milford defeated Natick, 21-7.
  • Jonathan Joseph turned the fourth quarter into his own personal showcase, picking off a pair of passes and also coming up with a key reception to set up a touchdown as King Philip defeated Mansfield, 21-14.
  • Brady Nicholson returned an interception 27 yards for a touchdown as Marshfield snapped Lincoln-Sudbury’s 15-game winning streak, 27-23.
  • Carson Harwood and Datrell Jones combined to rush for 322 yards and three TDs on 25 carries as Catholic Memorial cruised to a 47-13 win over Reading.
  • Eugene Jordan ran for 205 yards and four touchdowns on 34 carries as Barnstable defeated Hingham, 42-21.
  • Linebacker Davon Moul blocked a pair of kicks in Durfee’s 28-27 loss to Needham.

DIVISION 3

  • Josh Robertson threw for 179 yards and a touchdown, while adding a TD run, as Marblehead defeated Masconomet, 21-7.
  • Tyler Bannon and Tyler DeMattio teamed up to amass 351 yards and six touchdowns on 38 carries as North Attleboro outscored Milton, 62-28.
  • Dom Gird ran for a pair of scores and keyed a strong defensive effort as Billerica edged Hanover, 15-14.
  • Corey Kilroy threw for three scores and ran for two more as Walpole defeated Norwood, 32-10.
  • Will Kelly ran for 172 yards and two scores as Dartmouth beat Plymouth North, 26-8
  • Revere’s Max Doucette and Augusto Goncalves combined for 12 sacks in a 28-0 win over Belmont.

DIVISION 4

  • Dylan Gordon was at it again, running for 288 yards and four touchdowns as Foxboro doubled up on Wilmington, 42-21.
  • Andrew Bossey ran for 134 yards and a touchdown as Scituate defeated Ashland, 21-14.
  • Matt Festa played a key part in Duxbury’s big second half, rushing for three scores in a 39-14 win.
  • Danny Fleming rushed for 222 yards and four touchdowns, while completing 4-of-4 passes for 93 yards and a TD as Tewksbury beat Wayland, 35-30.
  • Shea Fogarty and Stephen Fogarty combined for four touchdowns, two interceptions and a fumble recovery as Melrose defeated Arlington, 35-21

DIVISION 5

  • Chase Dwight threw for 262 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 43 yards and two more scores as Pentucket defeated Old Rochester, 21-14.
  • Steven Woods completed 15-of-19 passes for 271 yards and four touchdowns as Bishop Fenwick rolled to a 42-13 win over Hudson.
  • Ryan Fitzgerald completed 10-of-19 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns, while returning a kick 67 yards for a score as Dennis-Yarmouth defeated Martha’s Vineyard, 29-7.
  • Cam O’Brien ran for a pair of scores as Swampscott beat Dover-Sherborn, 23-9.
  • Steve Donnelly ran for 263 yards and five touchdowns as Northeast coasted to a 49-14 win over Diman.
  • Alex Carucci threw three touchdown passes as North Reading beat Norton, 33-6.

DIVISION 6

  • Kurtis Lucas-Summers ran for 159 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Abington crushed Sandwich 34-0.
  • Jacob Coulstring ran for 175 yards and two touchdowns as Rockland held off Winthrop, 37-34.
  • David Brown rushed for 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns as St. Mary’s rolled to a 42-14 win over Medway.
  • John Furno recorded 12 tackles and a sack as Blackstone Valley knocked Stoneham from the ranks of the unbeaten, 28-14.

DIVISION 7/8

  • Kayden Eaton and Brady Johnston combined to rush for 270 yards and four touchdowns as Mashpee rallied to defeat Amesbury, 26-22.
  • Liam Appleton rushed for 85 yards and a pair of scores as Cohasset defeated Hamilton-Wenham, 21-7.
  • Tyler Richards proved to be an effective dual threat, throwing for 137 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 70 yards and a second score in South Shore’s 28-19 win over Franklin County.
  • Greg Izedonmwen returned a pair of kicks for touchdowns as Randolph upset Ware, 16-10.
  • Luke Richardson ran for a pair of scores as Hull defeated KIPP, 27-20.

ISL/PREP

  • Tyler Martin and Tom Porell keyed a strong defensive effort with 17 tackles as BB&N defeated Lawrence Academy, 28-6.
  • Michael Wolfendale threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 44 yards and two scores as Brooks rallied to defeat Tabor, 33-28.
  • Joe Lang couldn’t script his final game any better as his Middlesex squad defeated St. George’s 19-13 in overtime for his 191st career win.
  • Hudson Weidman threw for 122 yards and the winning score, while rushing for 75 yards and a second score as Pingree defeated Dexter Southfield, 13-10.
