Long-time Red Sox fan Mac Jones is rooting on the hometown team
Mac Jones is a long-time Red Sox fan. Who knew?
The Patriots rookie quarterback, appearing on WEEI’s “Merloni & Fauria” said that while he wasn’t the biggest baseball fan, he watched the team quite a bit growing up thanks to his grandfather being a fan.
And he’ll be among the many cheering the Sox on as they try to close out Tampa Bay in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series.
“The Red Sox, I definitely grew up actually watching them,” said Jones, who is a Jacksonville, Fla., native. “My grandfather was a huge Red Sox fan. I’m glad to see them doing well and hope they can pull out this series.”
Jones also indicated he played baseball as a kid. He was a pitcher, but ultimately stopped playing.
“I couldn’t do both,” he said of playing football and baseball. “It messed with my throwing motion in football. I couldn’t throw as well doing both of them.”
