Alleged Massachusetts State Police trooper accused of assaulting women while off-duty
An apparent off-duty Massachusetts State Police trooper is accused of fighting a group of women, as the agency said it’s investigating a “disturbing video” of the altercation.
The video — which was obtained by the Herald — shows a man pushing several women on a sidewalk. Then the man allegedly punches one of them.
The unidentified man is apparently a State Police trooper.
State Police are now investigating.
“Yesterday the Department became aware of a disturbing video depicting an assault committed by a man alleged to be an off-duty member,” State Police spokesman Dave Procopio said in a statement. “The actions as depicted in the video are the antithesis of the values and conduct demanded of department members.
“We have opened an investigation to determine the identities of the alleged assailant and the victim or victims,” he added. “If the investigation identifies the assailant, regardless of who he is, we will refer the incident for potential criminal prosecution and, if applicable, also begin departmental disciplinary proceedings.”
There has been a series of State Police troopers in trouble in recent years.
