Patriots place WR N’Keal Harry (shoulder) on injured reserve, per report
According to the NFL Network, the Patriots are placing wide receiver N’Keal Harry on injured reserve, a widely expected move that creates an open spot on their active roster.
Since the move was processed after the close of league business hours Wednesday, Harry will officially hit IR on Thursday.
Harry has been out since landing hard on his left shoulder during the second quarter of the Pats’ preseason win at Philadelphia on Aug. 19. He survived the team’s final cuts Tuesday and is expected to serve as their No. 4 wide receiver. The soonest Harry can return is Week 4, when the Patriots will host Tom Brady and the Bucs on Oct. 3 for a Sunday night kickoff at Gillette Stadium.
On Tuesday, Pats coach Bill Belichick said he expects a big season from his former first-round pick.
“Had a good camp, I’m glad we have him. I think he’ll make a big contribution to our team,” Belichick said Tuesday morning. “We’ll see how it all goes from a time standpoint, when he’ll be able to get back on the field.”
