Hurricane Ida’s remnants bring massive rainfall totals to Massachusetts, almost 10 inches in New Bedford
Hurricane Ida’s remnants dropped nearly 10 inches of torrential rain in parts of Massachusetts, leading to flooding across the region on Thursday.
Here are the top rainfall totals for the Bay State, according to the National Weather Service’s spotter reports:
- New Bedford: 9.50 inches
- Fairhaven’s West Island: 8.22 inches
- Fairhaven: 7.86 inches
- Dover: 7.85 inches
- Marion: 7.50 inches
- Holliston: 7.42 inches
- West Wareham: 7.27 inches
- Leominster: 7.08 inches
- East Sandwich: 6.87 inches
Boston Logan International Airport reported 4.23 inches, and Jamaica Plain’s report of 4.75 inches was the highest in the city.
In Rhode Island, two spots at the University of Rhode Island reported nearly 10 inches of rain. Also, Portsmouth, R.I., had a report of 8.32 inches.
