Boston police respond to 40 gunshots in Roxbury, 6 vehicles hit and 2 buildings struck

Dozens of gunshots rang out in Roxbury Monday night, striking cars and buildings in the neighborhood, according to police.

Boston police officers responded to a report of shots fired outside of 50 Brunswick St. at around 9:05 p.m. Monday.

Officers found 40 pieces of ballistic evidence at the scene in Roxbury.

Six vehicles were hit, and two buildings were struck, according to a Boston Police spokesman.

No people were hit by the bullets, and no injuries were reported.

No arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon.

Shooting incidents across Boston are down this year compared to 2020. There have been 107 citywide shooting incidents so far this year as of Sunday, a 20% decrease from 134 shooting incidents at this time last year.

There have been 122 total gunshot victims so far this year, a 24% drop from 160 total victims last year at the same time.

Of the 122 total gunshot victims, 13 people have died. That’s down 57% from 30 fatal shootings at this time in 2020.

Meanwhile, there has been a rise in firearm arrests this year. Boston Police have made 370 gun arrests so far this year, a 27% increase from the 292 arrests at this time last year.
