Source: Patriots QB Jarrett Stidham expected to miss more than a week on PUP list

Patriots quarterback Jarrett Stidham is expected to remain on the Physically Unable to Perform list for more than a week, a league source told the Herald.

To fill his shoes, the team reportedly claimed quarterback Jake Dolegala off waivers Wednesday from Green Bay. Dolegala spent most of last season on the Pats’ practice squad and was released after the draft. The third-year passer has never appeared in an NFL game.

Dolegala will join Cam Newton, Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer in the team’s quarterbacks room. The Pats will hold their second training camp practice Thursday at 9:45 a.m.

Stidham was placed on the PUP list last week for unknown reasons. Hoyer’s addition in May seemed his chances of making the final 53-man roster, with Hoyer expected to help mentor Jones over his rookie season as the team’s No. 3 quarterback.
