Boston deadly shooting: New Hampshire man on federal supervised release is charged with murder
A New Hampshire man who’s on federal supervised release is now accused of killing a man at a summer gathering in Boston.
Ira Grayson, 35, of Manchester, N.H., was arraigned on Tuesday on a charge of murder for fatally shooting 33-year-old Stacy Coleman on Sunday evening in Roxbury.
Grayson was ordered held without bail. He’s charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm, as well as drug-related offenses.
Grayson is currently on federal supervised release following a conviction in New Hampshire for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office.
On Sunday at around 8:36 p.m., Boston Police officers responded to a report of a shooting on Danube Street. Coleman was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Boston Police detectives in their investigation learned that Grayson and Coleman were both at an outdoor gathering on Danube Street when they became involved in an altercation.
Prosecutors said there were two guns involved in the altercation, and Grayson admitted himself to an area hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his arm. Grayson was in possession of illegal drugs at the time of his arrest at the hospital, police said.
“As the weather turns warm and our communities shed pandemic-era restrictions on gatherings, there become more opportunities for personal conflict and confrontations,” DA Rachael Rollins said in a statement. “No matter what those conflicts may be, there is never an excuse for taking a life or inflicting harm through violence.
“Mr. Coleman’s family and loved ones are now left grieving and asking questions that we will try our best to answer,” she added. “My office is available to this family and all survivors of homicide in Suffolk County to help connect them with resources and to provide the support they deserve.”
