Fire guts Revere apartment building
A massive fire in Revere ravaged an apartment building, displacing dozens and sending a pillar of smoke into the sky visible miles around.
The blaze on Elicott Street right near the water reached six alarms as apparatus came in from surrounding cities and towns on Thursday.
The wind whipped the smoke billowing down the street, raining water vapor and bits of ash onto the area that was bathed in a sickly beige. Multiple other buildings caught fire, and at one point firefighters and residents went dashing down the street as they realized a house down the block started to smoke from an airborne ember.
Local news reports said more than 25 people were displaced as at least six homes were damaged. Firefighters didn’t report any serious injuries.
