Kerry calls allegations he ratted on Israel to Iran ‘unequivocally false,’ but some in GOP doubtful

Climate czar John Kerry took to Twitter to vehemently deny allegations he once shared Israeli military operations with Iran’s foreign minister.

“I can tell you that this story and these allegations are unequivocally false. This never happened — either when I was Secretary of State or since,” Kerry stated on his personal Twitter account Monday night.

But some Republicans — including Nikki Haley, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations — aren’t buying it.

“This is disgusting on many levels. Biden and Kerry have to answer for why Kerry would be tipping off Iran, the number one sponsor of terror, while stabbing one of our greatest partners, Israel, in the back,” Haley tweeted.

Haley is seen as a possible 2024 presidential candidate for the GOP.

According to The Hill, it was reported on Monday that leaked audio recorded in March captured Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif saying that Kerry told him Israel had attacked Iran’s interests in Syria at least 200 times.

Kerry, a former presidential candidate and U.S. Secretary of State between 2013 and 2017 under former President Barack Obama and longtime senator from Massachusetts, turned to the media for help.

In his Twitter feed, Kerry links to a Washington Post scribe who writes: “Many conservatives attacking John Kerry for discussing with Iran that Israel covertly struck 200 Iranian targets in Syria, per leaked audio. @StateDeptSpox notes that those strikes had already been disclosed by a gov’t in the region (i.e. Israel)”

That did not stop the criticism.

The Hill adds Alaska U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan called for Kerry’s resignation in a floor speech, “one of several senators to do so Monday.”

This is the second time in just the past two months Kerry has been called out. In March, Kerry was seen without a mask while reading on an American Airlines Boston-to-DC flight in violation of a host of mask mandates from the CDC to his boss, President Biden.

As the Herald reported, Kerry also took to Twitter to call the mask slip “malarkey.”

An American Airlines spokeswoman said they intended to “reach out to Secretary Kerry to underscore that all customers are expected to wear masks for the duration of their trip.”

“Feels like there’s some St. Patrick’s day ‘malarkey’ afoot on Twitter,” Kerry tweeted from his @ClimateEnvoy feed in mid-March. “Let’s be clear: If I dropped my mask to one ear on a flight, it was momentary. I wear my mask because it saves lives and stops the spread. It’s what the science tells us to do.”

The MassGOP has tweeted out a link to this latest flare-up for the hometown Democrat.

Meanwhile, Kerry’s latest moment under the hot lights comes as Republicans are also trying to keep Biden from returning the U.S. to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Iran is also demanding the U.S. lift sanctions.

The Associated Press reports the European Union are heading up talks in Vienna, where envoys are trying to synchronize a U.S. return to and Iranian compliance with the 2015 agreement.
