THURSDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Setter Laura Cogswell had 32 assists and 5 aces as Barnstable swept Cape and Islands opponent Sandwich, 3-0, on Dig Yellow Night in honor of former Boston Herald All-Scholastic Olivia Brodt.
Junior Cathryn Leighton finished with 16 assists, while Melanie Gildea added eight kills to power Hopkinton (8-2) past Norwood, 3-0, in the Tri-Valley League.
In the Commonwealth Athletic Conference, junior Ali Tkach set a career-high with 16 kills to go along with six aces as Essex Tech defeated Lowell Catholic, 3-1.
Lilah Thompson had seven kills and five aces as Marblehead (4-5) defeated Swampscott, 3-0, in the Northeastern Conference..
Emma Rezendes had 31 assists, three kills and two aces as Durfee defeated Greater New Bedford, 3-1, in nonleague contest.
BOYS HOCKEY
In the Greater Boston League semifinals, senior Cosmo Curtatone scored four times as Somerville rolled to a 12-3 victory over Everett.
BOYS SOCCER
In a Mayflower League contest, Mike Toscano netted a pair of goals while Markens Charles added a goal and an assist to lead Blue Hills (6-0-1) past Tri-County, 4-0.
GIRLS SOCCER
In the South Coast Conference, Devin Sylvia had a hat trick as Apponequet blanked Case, 5-0.
