Viral moments of Inauguration Day: Bernie Sanders’ mittens, Biden’s Bible, JLo’s patriotic mashup
The historic inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris gave the nation many memorable moments and a few viral sensations on the internet. as well.
Facebook and Twitter lit up over a certain senator from Vermont’s mittens, a five-inch family Bible and a JLo mashup for the ages — to name a few.
Proving once again that he is not only the meme king but also a dyed in the wool Vermonter, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ cozy yet causal fashion choices stole the show.
His signature patterned wool mittens — made by one of his Green Mountain State constituents from repurposed wool sweaters and recycled plastic water bottles — made a comeback from the campaign trail, much to the delight of Twitter and U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who tweeted, “I want mittens like Amo @BernieSanders.”

Sanders completed the look with a gray Burton parka that previously rocketed to viral social media fame last year in the “I am once again memes.”
The look was so popular the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame had a Bernie Sanders Inauguration Day bobblehead doll presale open on its site within hours. The figurines, complete with coat and mittens, cost $25 and will be ready to ship in May.
A massive five-inch, leather-bound Bible used in Biden’s swearing-in grabbed the attention of comedian Stephen Colbert, who on Twitter called it the “Director’s Cut Extended Edition.”

It’s Biden’s 127-year-old family Bible and he’s used it for every one of his oaths of office.
Singer Jennifer Lopez earned adoration from fans who called her an “icon” for her patriotic mashup of Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land” and “America the Beautiful.” JLo slipped in her own hit, “Let’s Get Loud” from her 1999 debut album and wrapped up by with a line from the Pledge of Allegiance, in Spanish.
