State Police investigating murder-suicide after man, woman found dead in Charlton home
A man and woman are dead after an argument turned into an apparent murder-suicide at a Charlton apartment, officials said.
The two people died following a shooting in the bedroom of the 28 Southbridge Road apartment, District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said.
Charlton Police and EMS responded to a 911 call at about 7:15 p.m. A witness reported to police that an argument between a couple was happening in a bedroom of the home prior to the shooting, Early said.
Police found the man dead from “what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to Early. The woman was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds when first responders arrived. Medical assistance was rendered but she later died from her injuries, according to Early.
Police have not yet identified the victims and are working to inform family members.
State Police detectives are investigating alongside Charlton Police, State Police Crime Scene Services, the MSP Firearms Identification Section and forensic scientists assigned to the State Police Crime Lab.
State Police and Charlton Police have determined there is no ongoing threat to the public.
