Coronavirus in Massachusetts: Everett mails masks to residents

The city of Everett has mailed masks to its residents in the hopes of slowing the spread of the coronavirus, as virus cases and hospitalizations continue to rise across Massachusetts.

The city last week mailed the reusable, washable masks to residents. Each resident is receiving a mask with the city of Everett “E” printed on it.

“It is important that we are all being safe during these uncertain times,” Mayor Carlo DeMaria said in a statement. “I am truly grateful for all the sacrifices our community has made during throughout the year and these masks are a small token of my gratitude.

“We need to continue to fight this virus and stay safe,” he added. “I hope residents will wear these masks with pride.”

The masks include a QR code on the inside that can be scanned with a smartphone camera. Once this code is scanned, residents will be brought to the COVID-19 resources section of the City of Everett’s website.

For residents who did not receive a mask or for residents who would like additional masks, email your name, address and phone number to masks@ci.everett.ma.us. Further instructions will be provided upon receipt of the email.

Additional masks will be distributed while supplies last.
