Methadone Mile busts: Boston Police arrest 7, recover illegal drugs
Police over the last week have arrested seven alleged drug dealers in the Methadone Mile area and helped more than 25 alleged buyers seek treatment for their drug addictions, the department announced on Monday.
Officers over the past six weeks have identified several people who are known to sell drugs in the Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard area, police said.
The weekslong drug investigation resulted in seven arrests and the recovery of a significant amount of drugs in the Methadone Mile area.
“Officers assisted many of the alleged buyers in seeking treatment for their drug addictions as they focused on obtaining warrants for the dealers selling drugs to these individuals,” police said in a statement.
“As a result of this operation, officers were able to provide treatment services for over twenty-five individuals who will be summoned to local district courts for possession,” police added.
The following seven people have been arrested in the last few days:
- Bryan Owens, 35, of Boston. Owens was charged with distribution of Class B drugs, trafficking Class A drugs and trafficking Class B drugs. Officers found 23 grams of crack cocaine and 20 grams of fentanyl during the booking process.
- Brian Ortiz, 20, of Boston. Ortiz was charged with distribution of Class B drugs.
- Odanis Brea, 21, of Boston. Brea was charged with distribution of Class B drugs and trafficking Class B drugs. Officers found 58 grams of crack cocaine during the booking process.
- Jared Disculla, 23, of Boston. Disculla was charged with possession with intent to distribute Class A drugs, possession with intent to distribute Class D drugs, and possession with intent to distribute Class E Drugs. Officers found fentanyl, marijuana, and a bag of Gabapentin pills.
- Luando DaCosta, 40, of Dorchester. DaCosta was charged with distribution of Class B drugs, possession of Class A drugs and possession of Class B drugs. Officers found crack cocaine and fentanyl during the booking process.
- Domingos Cabral, 31, of New Bedford. Cabral was charged with distribution of Class B drugs.
- Lester Ruff, 51, of Boston. Ruff was charged with distribution of Class B drugs. Officers found crack cocaine during the booking process.
In addition to these arrests, detectives have obtained arrest warrants for more than 10 people.
