Fenway Park staff are stepping up to the plate to help host early voting.
Crews were assembling the booths Friday to kick off voting in the city. The park will be open all weekend for registered Boston voters from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The idea of voting at the historic ballpark lit up social media, with Sam Adams beer getting in a plug saying on Twitter: “You can’t have a beer, but you can vote early.”
The Fenway Park Twitter account vowed to “be ready” for voters. But, you can’t vote if you’ve already mailed in your ballot.
But not all the Fenway faithful were celebrating.
“The good news? The Red Sox are offering early election voting at Fenway Park … for registered Boston voters! The bad news? Voting is in the concourse only. You won’t get anywhere near the field. Disappointing,” tweeted a fan.
Plus, anyone from out of Boston cannot vote there.
The city also posted voting basics, including
Saturday, October 24, at 8 p.m.: Last day to register to vote
Saturday, October 17, through Friday, October 30: Early voting
Wednesday, October 28: Last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot
Monday, November 2, at 12 p.m.: Last day to apply in-person for an absentee ballot
Tuesday, November 3 (Election Day): Last day to return your completed vote-by-mail ballot or vote in person at polling locations from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
