Bill Weld says he voted for Joe Biden

While some current and former Massachusetts GOP governors are playing coy about who they’re casting ballots for in the presidential election, Bill Weld is not.

The former Bay State governor, who waged a primary bid against President Trump, said to little surprise Thursday that he voted early for Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

“In MA, we’re not supposed to post pics of our marked ballots, so I’m not posting the proof that I gladly marked mine for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. But rest assured, that’s how I voted,” Weld tweeted Thursday afternoon. “It’s America or Trump, and I’m going with America.”

Weld, 75, follows in the footsteps of two other Republican Massachusetts governors who succeeded him in the corner office.

Mitt Romney, now a U.S. Senator for Utah, told CNN this week, “I did not vote for President Trump.” Romney, a frequent critic of the president, did not say who he voted for.

Gov. Charlie Baker, another in the line of fiscally conservative but more socially liberal Republicans to hold the state’s highest office, reiterated on Thursday that he does not support Trump but did not say whether he would vote for Biden.

“I’ve already made clear that I don’t plan to support the president,” Baker said during an unrelated press conference. “I didn’t vote for him four years ago. I see nothing to change my mind.”
