3 shot, 1 dead after shooting in Boston’s South End, Gross says
One person is dead and two more are in the hospital after a triple shooting in the South End on Friday night.
The people were shot on Hammond Street near Westminster Street, according to Boston Police Chief William Gross and Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins, who both poke from the scene, flanked by cops, as onlookers could be heard yelling in the background.
Gross insisted, as he often does at crime scenes, that it’s only a very small portion of people who are behind the vast majority of the street crime.
“It’s only a couple of these people who are committed to these acts,” Gross told reporters. “We’re going to get them and hold them accountable.”
Gross noted the double shooting less than 24 hours earlier in Charlestown, acknowledging that violent outbursts often comes in bunches.
“It is a battle between good and evil,” Gross said.
Gross declined to give much further information about the circumstances of the shooting.
He asked anyone with information to call the police tip line at 1-800-494-TIPS, or text the word “TIP” to CRIME (27463). Tipsters can remain anonymous.
