Eastern Mass. All-Decade boys tennis team

Here is the Eastern Massachusetts All-Decade Boys Tennis Team comprised of singles and doubles players who played between 2010-2019. Two-time state champion Alex Steinroeder of Concord-Carlisle headlined the seven-man singles team, while Acton-Boxboro and Lexington each placed two doubles teams on our all-decade squad.

BOYS

SINGLES

Harry Collomb

Wellesley, 2018-present

Collomb made a loud splash as a freshman, winning the State Individual title with a three-set win over Derek Shen of Boston Latin. He also helped the Raiders advance to the sectional semifinals and is one of the top-ranked USTA players in Massachusetts and New England for his age group.

Where are they now: Collomb is a sophomore at Wellesley High School.

Cam Mazzoni

Dennis-Yarmouth, 2014-2017

Mazzoni won a pair of South sectional titles and was a finalist in the State Individual singles tournament in 2016. A two-time Atlantic Coast League All-Star. Mazzoni ended his career with a 45-3 mark.

Where are they now: Mazzoni is currently a junior at Davidson where he has a 16-8 record in singles and an 11-12 mark in doubles.

Aaron Revzin

Needham, 2009-2012

A four-time South sectional champion, Revzin was a state finalist in 2009-2010 as well as a state semifinalist in 2011-2012. A two-time captain, Revzin helped lead the Rockets to a pair of Division 1 state team titles.

Where are they now: Revzin went on to play at Amherst where he was a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American honors in 2015 and 2016.

Max Schuermann

Dover-Sherborn, 2015-2018

After a runner-up finish in 2017, Schuermann returned to center stage and captured the 2018 State Individual singles title. He was a three-time Tri-Valley League Most Valuable Player and an MIAA Sportsmanship Award winner.

Where are they now: Schuermann is a sophomore on the tennis team at Colby College.

Will Spector

Weston, 2008-2011

A four-year starter at first singles for Weston, Spector won the 2011 State Individual singles championship. He was part of back-to-back state team championship sqauds for the Wildcats.

Where are they now: Spector played tennis for three years at Brown (2011-2013), finishing with a 66-25 record in singles and 50-27 in doubles.

Alex Steinroeder

Concord-Carlisle, 2007-2010

A state semifinalist in 2008, Steinroeder went on to win the State Individual singles titles in both 2009 and 2010. A part of two state team championship squads, Steinroeder ended his varsity career with a 94-2 record.

Where are they now: Steinroeder went to play at Harvard where he served as a captain in his junior and senior years (2014-2015), winning 85 matches in his career.

Patrick Wyeth

Cape Cod Academy, 2012-2015

After suffering losses in the state individual tournament in his first two years, Wyeth broke through as a junior in 2014. He defeated Westboro’s talented Sumukh Pahti to become the first player in school history to win a State Individual title.

Where are they now: Wyeth recently graduated from Boston College with a degree in finance.

DOUBLES

Tiger Tian, 2017-2020

Jasper Bo, 2018-present

Acton-Boxboro

The duo went 15-2 during the season and went on to win the 2019 State Individual Doubles title, while helping the Colonials advance to the Division 1 North sectional finals.

Where are they now: Bo is a junior at Acton-Boxboro, while Tian is a senior.

Cooper Blaze, 2013-2016

Donnie Brodd, 2012-2015

Barnstable

This tandem went on to win the 2015 State Individual doubles title in three sets. Brodd was a three-sport captain for the Red Raiders. Blaze joined forces with Cooper Hesse to reach the South sectional finals in doubles a year later.

Where are they now: Blaze went to Wake Forest (2016-2020) where he majored in economics. Brood attended the Isenberg School of Management at UMass (2015-2019) where he received a bachelor’s in accounting.

Gideon Feifke, 2012-2015

Connor Chin, 2011-2014

Lexington

The duo went 18-1 on the season and went on to win the State Individual Doubles title in 2014. Feifke and Chin were key members of a Minuteman team which won the Division 1 state team title.

Where are they now: Feifke played club tennis at Northwestern and graduated in 2019 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Chin played tennis at Babson from 2015-2018 and went 16-16 in singles and 10-4 in doubles.

Leon Fridrikh, 2014-2017

Alexander Pieri, 2014-2017

Acton-Boxboro

It was a storybook season for Fridrikh and Pieri as they won the 2017 State Individual Doubles title as well as teaming up to win the Division 1 state team title. Fridrikh ended his career with a 63-8 record, while Pieri was a three-year starter for the Colonials.

Where are they now: Fridrikh is a junior at Miami (Ohio) where he plays club tennis. Pieri is a junior majoring in industrial engineering at the University of Illinois.

Gordon Peters, 2007-2010

Alex Robertson, 2008-2011

Wellesley

After winning the State Individual Doubles title in 2009, Peters returned to the top spot with a different partner in 2010. Peters teamed up with Robertson to capture the 2010 crown and also played a key role in Wellesley’s perfect 26-0 season and a Division 1 state title. Robertson was a sectional finalist in doubles in 2009 and also played some singles for the Raiders.

Where are they now: Robertson graduated from Bates in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Peters attended Reed College in Oregon.

Charles Morris, 2012-2015

Caye Tittmann, 2013-2016

BC High

Morris and Tittmann were unbeatable in 2013 as they marched to the State Individual Doubles title. The duo also played huge roles as BC High captured the Division 1 state team title with a 3-2 win over St. John’s (Shrewsbury).

Where are they now: Morris went to Babson where he majored in business management (2015-2019) and played tennis for a year. Tittmann attended the Thornton School of Music at USC, but took a leave of absence in 2017 to pursue a full-time career as a musician.

Aaron Chen, 2017-2020

Charles Wang, 2016-2019

Lexington

Chen and Wang were mainstays in the Lexington lineup and were nearly unbeatable as a tandem. The duo won the State Individual Doubles title in 2018 and reached the North finals a year later. They helped Lexington win Division 1 North sectional title in both of those years.

Where are they now: Aaron Chen is a senior at Lexington, while Wang is a freshman at Cal-Berkeley.

Mark Corvi, 2009-2012

Ian Wright, 2010-2013

St. John’s Prep

The duo rallied from a set down to win the 2012 State Individual Doubles title in a three-set tiebreaker. Both players were honors students.

Where are they now: Corvi graduated from Northeastern in 2017 with a degree in civil engineering. Wright attended Providence from 2013 to 2017 and majored in finance.

Aaron Belowich, 2008-2011

Emrecan Yener, 2008-2011

Newton South

Belowich could make a compelling argument for being one of the premier doubles player of the decade as he was a three-time Boston Herald All-Scholastic (2009-2011) with three different partners. In 2011, Belowich teamed with Emrecan Yener to win the State Individual Doubles title.

Where are they now: Belowich attended George Washington University where he graduated in 2015 with a degree in economics and statistics and is currently a managing consultant at IBM. Yener graduated from Drexel in 2017 with a degree in biomedical engineering.
