The change of direction for the outermost luminary in our solar system encourages the development of our inner authority. This will not make us resistant to the suggestions of other authority figures; in fact, the opposite is true. External authority is much less intimidating or problematic for those with a strong internal authority.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Emotions are more attention-getting than facts. So while the true bits are the most relevant and necessary parts of your story, mix in some emotion or no one will hear them.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You’re still learning another person. Doing this well means forgetting about who you need or want them to be and asking the pertinent questions that will reveal who they are.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). The reason for some of your behaviors can be summed up in four little words: It’s in your blood. Even so, you’ll masterfully take this innate trait in the best direction possible.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTION: To follow up on a reader question earlier this week, “What is a spell exactly? Do they work?”

My definition of a spell: to summon magical powers or utilize magical associations and/or implements in a ritual with intent on a particular outcome.

By this definition, many things could be a spell. A person wielding innate personal charisma in a ritualized and intentional way is casting a spell. Indeed, many songs have been sung in acknowledgment of this dynamic!

A typical spell in the context of modern witches might include particular words said over a candle, the burning of sacred herbs or incense, the use of crystals, wands, etc.

When a spell has the successful outcome for which it was intended, the logical justification that follows is usually along the lines of, “It wasn’t the magic that worked, but the actions taken to get that result.” But would those actions have been taken were it not for the intention solidified by the spell? And the magic follow-up question: “Does that really matter?”

CELEBRITY PROFILES: This year the characterization of Judy Garland won Renee Zellweger her second Oscar. Even though Zellweger is a down-to-earth Taurus, she connects with the legendary vaudevillian in the spirit of a strong Leo current in both of their charts. Leo is the energy of entertainment. For Zellweger, it is her emotional moon, and for Garland it was dreamy Neptune.
