Nikki Haley will replace Pence on Trump ticket, CNN pundit predicts

It’s “guaranteed” that President Trump plans to dump Vice President Mike Pence from his ticket in favor of former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, a Democratic strategist on CNN insisted.

Paul Begala, a strategist for former President Bill Clinton’s campaigns, made the unconfirmed claim during a CNN panel when the host asked for “bold predictions.”

“This is not a prediction — it’s a certainty,” Begala began. “On July 16 — that’s the day the Democrat gives her or his acceptance address — on that day, to interrupt that narrative, Trump is going to call a press conference at Mar-a-Lago. He’s going to dump Mike Pence and put Nikki Haley on the ticket to try to get those suburban moms. You watch — guaranteed.”

Begala continued with his theory, “Trump put Pence in charge of coronavirus to throw him under the bus.”

Pence, the former governor of Indiana, was just placed in charge of the administration’s response to the expanding coronavirus global outbreak. Haley is the former governor of South Carolina, and has served as Trump’s ambassador to the U.N. She’s frequently seen as a rising star in the Republican Party, and this isn’t even the first time rumors have floated of her replacing Pence on the ticket. Trump previously has swatted down such rumors, but he and Haley didn’t touch the story Tuesday on their Twitter accounts.
