Patriots add Jedd Fisch to offensive staff, per report

The Patriots are adding veteran offensive coach Jedd Fisch to their staff, according to a Boston Globe report Friday.

Fisch spent the past two seasons with the Rams, working most recently as their assistant offensive coordinator after one year as an senior offensive assistant. The 43-year-old coach has been working in the NFL or major college football since 1999. Fisch has extensive experience coaching quarterbacks and wide receivers.

The Pats are currently without a wide receivers coach. Fisch’s position has yet to be announced publicly.

Prior to his stop with the Rams, Fisch’s last NFL job was working as the Jaguars’ offensive coordinator in 2013-14. He was fired at the end of the 2014 season. Fisch then quickly resurfaced at the University of Michigan, where he coached quarterbacks wide receivers and served as the passing game coordinator.  Two years later, he was hired away to become the new offensive coordinator at UCLA.

Fisch lasted one season with the Bruins, who promoted him to interim head coach for their bowl game in December 2017 and then let the rest of their staff go. Prior to Jacksonville and UCLA, Fisch also coordinated offenses at the University of Miami (2011-12) and University of Minnesota (2009).

Fisch broke into the NFL as a defensive quality control assistant with the Houston Texans in their inaugural season of 2002. Since then, he has coached under Mike Shanahan, Pete Carroll, Jim Harbaugh and Sean McVay, among others.

The Pats have two other coaching vacancies at special teams coordinator and defensive line.
