Everett ‘porch pirate’ stole packages in Malden, police say

An accused “porch pirate” from Everett was a real-life Grinch, cops said.

Robert Beauchamp, 46, is accused of stealing packages in a Malden neighborhood this week.

He was arrested on Wednesday, charged with receiving stolen property and larceny. Beauchamp is set to be arraigned in Malden District Court Thursday morning.

Police on Tuesday posted photos of a man apparently pilfering packages in the area of Holyoke and Stearns streets in Malden. The man was holding a container of food at the time.

“Sir, you shouldn’t be stealing packages that aren’t yours, and for Heaven’s sake, the next time you carry takeout food to someone’s house, you better be delivering it!” Malden Police wrote on Facebook.

Then at around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, a witness called police, saying that a man was stealing a package from a porch, police said. Officers quickly responded and arrested Beauchamp, who was wearing the same clothes from the Sunday larceny photos, police added.

“At this time Beauchamp’s fast food container that he was holding has not been located,” Malden Police wrote.

“Citizens should take extra precautions during this holiday season as these type of crimes increase significantly,” police added.

Some tips police shared include: Set up notifications to track your package, install a security camera, require a signature on delivery, get your packages delivered to your work, and get a box at your local post office.
