1 dead in plane crash at New Bedford cemetery
A pilot was killed when his small plane crashed in a New Bedford cemetery Monday afternoon, State Police said.
The crash happened at Rural Cemetery on Grape Street and Rockdale Avenue in New Bedford.
The pilot was the only person aboard the plane, according to the FAA. The crash happened at about 3:00 pm.
The plane that crashed was a Cessna 150. It departed from New Bedford Regional Airport, which is about 5 miles from the site of the crash.
The National Transportation and Safety Board and the FAA are investigating the crash to find out what caused the incident.
