Newton homicide investigation: 3 elderly people found dead police search for suspect
Three “elderly” people were found dead inside a Newton residence Sunday morning, as police investigate the apparent homicide and search for the alleged triple murder suspect.
Newton Police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office were investigating in the city’s Nonantum neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
Police responded at around 10:14 a.m. to a Broadway Street residence after “three elderly persons were found dead inside the home from an apparent homicide,” the Middlesex DA’s Office said in a statement.
“At this time police are actively searching for the person or persons responsible,” the DA’s Office added Sunday afternoon. “This is a very active and ongoing investigation.”
The area of Broadway Street between Churchill and Linwood Avenue remained closed, and people were being asked to avoid the area.
“Residents of the Nonantum area should expect to see an increased police presence,” the DA’s Office added. “As always, residents are asked to remain vigilant, check door and window locks and report any suspicious activity to Newton Police at 617-796-2123. In an emergency call 911.”
