Revolution sign forward Bobby Wood

New England Revolution head coach and sporting director Bruce Arena continues to backload the front-end in preparation for the 2023 MLS season.

The Revolution on Monday signed forward Bobby Wood to a one-year contract through next season with a one-year club option in 2024.

Wood, 30, spent the last two seasons with Real Salt Lake, where he scored five goals in 31 appearances. He had three goals and one assist in 13 games last season.

Wood spent most of his professional career competing for several top teams in Germany. Wood played for Arena with the U.S. men’s National team where he registered 45 caps with 13 goals and five assists.

“I am very familiar with Bobby having coached him on the international stage with the United States,” said Arena. “I’m very confident that he will be an excellent addition to our attack here in New England.”

Arena signed forwards Dylan Borrero and Giacomo Vrioni during the course of last season to help alleviate the loss of Tajon Buchanan (Belgium) and Adam Buksa (France). Both Borrero and Vrioni saw limited action due to injuries. Striker Gustavo Bou led the Revs with eight goals in 19 games.
