Former Patriots Vince Wilfork, Rodney Harrison named 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame semifinalists
Former Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork and safety Rodney Harrison are among the 28 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 2023 modern-era class.
Both players have been nominated before, with Harrison reaching the semifinal round two years ago and Wilfork earning his first nomination last year. Neither has been named a finalist.
In September, Wilfork was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame as its 32nd member. He spent 11 of his 13 NFL seasons in New England, where he won two Super Bowls and grew into a five-time Pro Bowler. Bill Belichick calls Wilfork the greatest nose tackle he ever coached.
Harrison last played in 2008, his sixth and final season with the Patriots. Over his 15-year career, Harrison made two All-Pro teams, earned a couple Pro Bowl nods and won two Super Bowls. He is the only defensive back in NFL history to record 30 sacks and 30 interceptions over his career.
Former Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis, who won a Super Bowl with the team in 2014, is a semifinalist in his first year of eligibility. Other former Patriots to make the cut were James Harrison, Fred Taylor and Henry Ellard.
The list of 28 semifinalists will be trimmed to 15 finalists early next year. In order to be eligible, players must not have participated in an NFL game for five consecutive seasons.
