‘Do something nice for a child today’: After Harmony Montgomery’s father is charged with her murder, here’s what the Manchester police chief had to say
After the father of 5-year-old girl Harmony Montgomery was charged with her murder, the Manchester, N.H. police chief on Monday told people to “make every effort to do something nice for a child today” in her honor.
Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg got choked up during the press conference, during which authorities announced the charges against Adam Montgomery, 32.
Harmony disappeared almost three years ago in New Hampshire.
“I ask that in memory of Harmony, that we all make every effort to do something nice for a child today,” Aldenberg said.
“I know of no other way,” said the emotional police chief as he paused for a moment. “I know of no other way to respect and honor this innocent and defenseless child than to extend an act of kindness to another child in her memory.
“Just take a few moments out of your day to say something nice to a child, give him or her a hug, some special words of encouragement, give them an extra hug, or simply tell them that you love them and that you’ll always protect them,” Aldenberg added.
Montgomery on Monday was charged with second-degree murder, falsifying physical evidence, abuse of corpse, and tampering with a witness.
