Police arrest New Haven truck driver in alleged hit and run
A Connecticut truck driver has been arrested and charged in the alleged hit-and-run last week that injured a Massachusetts State Police lieutenant who was helping another trucker in the breakdown lane.
Perry Livingston, 40, was arrested at his New Haven home Saturday.
State Police allege Livingston sideswiped the lieutenant on Interstate 495 in Hopkinton as he was assisting the driver of a tractor-trailer on the side of the road.
State Police distributed photos of the truck that hit the lieutenant after the incident last Wednesday, launching a lengthy search.
Connecticut State Police located Livingston’s unoccupied tractor-trailer in Milford, Conn., and it was seized pending a search warrant.
The lieutenant received injuries to his hands and arms. He was taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester for treatment.
The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office is working with Connecticut authorities to bring Livingston into Massachusetts where he will face charges.
