Dwinell named Boston Herald Executive Editor

Joe Dwinell has been named Executive Editor of the Boston Herald.

Dwinell has worked at the Herald since 2005 holding various positions on the City Desk, including Investigative Editor and Senior Editor. He is also the author of the Watchdog newsletter.

“Mr. Dwinell has been the heartbeat of what the Herald is,” said MediaNews Group’s Regional Publisher Kevin Corrado. “His excellence in journalism is what defines the Herald and we couldn’t be happier to have him as our Executive Editor.”

Dwinell, who holds a master’s degree in journalism from Boston University, graduated from North Adams State College, now the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, in 1982. He immediately went to work for The Middlesex News (which became The MetroWest Daily News) in Framingham.

Dwinell was also an on-air contributor to the former WB56 “Ten O’Clock News” until it was sold in 2006 to the owner of Channel 7.

At the Herald, Dwinell leads a team that covers the city and region with dogged determination.

“It’s an honor to be named Executive Editor,” Dwinell said. “I consider it a privilege to work every day for Herald readers. I welcome all emails to joed@bostonherald.com.”
