FBI reportedly looking into Donald Trump supporters surrounding Joe Biden bus
A large group of President Trump supporters in Texas surrounding a Joe Biden campaign bus and apparently trying to run it off the road has triggered the feds’ attention.
The FBI is reportedly looking into Friday’s highway incident in Hays County, according to The Texas Tribune.
The 100 vehicles with Trump flags swarming the Biden bus led to at least one collision, and Texas Democrats — citing “safety concerns” — canceled three events following the incident.
Trump at a Sunday rally claimed that his supporters were “protecting his bus.”
“Did you see the way our people, they … were protecting his bus yesterday because they’re nice,” Trump said at a rally. “They had hundreds of cars.”
The president also tweeted out a video of the incident and the caption, “I LOVE TEXAS!”
The Biden campaign said the vehicles tried to run its bus off the highway during its drive from San Antonio to Austin. The vehicles pulled in front of the bus, attempting to “stop the bus in the middle of the highway,” the Biden campaign told The Washington Post.
Biden campaign’s communications director in Texas said in a statement, “Rather than engage in productive conversation about the drastically different visions that Joe Biden and Donald Trump have for our country, Trump supporters in Texas today instead decided to put our staff, surrogates, supporters, and others in harm’s way.”
