Patriot punished for Bengals video scandal, reportedly lose 2021 third-round pick
The wait is over.
The Patriots were finally punished Sunday night for illegally filming the sideline and field of a Bengals game the week before traveling to Cincinnati to play them last season. According to ESPN, the Pats have been docked a 2021 third-round pick, fined $1.1 million and banned from sending any film crews to shoot any game during the 2020 season. A team-hired production crew was caught filming a game at Cleveland last December from the press box and was promptly removed.
Senior team officials will also be required to underago additional training on league gameday policies.
The Patriots have been awaiting a ruling for six months, during which time they claimed to fully cooperate with the league’s investigation.
