Virgo Moon of Anticipation by Holiday Mathis

The Virgo moon is out to play with our sense of anticipation before it slips into the realm of Libra and swells to full supermoon status. First a dreamy alignment with Neptune recalls our fantasy desires. Next there’s a brush with Mercury to suggest practical steps. Later an auspicious angle to Pluto and then Jupiter will drive home all points.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You’ll become aware of a desire that you may not have been fully conscious of until now. The part of you that wants will go on in kind until it gets what it longs for.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You are slow to anger, but you are also slow to let anger go. For this reason, you’ll do what you can to turn the heat down on potentially incendiary situations.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Despite your brave face, people know you are sensitive. They can tell in the tiny reactions that flicker across your being and the way you follow up with questions and care.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Like a pearl, you’ll turn irritations into things of beauty. This is accomplished not through rejecting the problem but embracing it, wrapping yourself around it until it becomes smooth and lovely.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Just because you happen to be self-sufficient doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ask for and accept help from others. Working together, you’ll strengthen the team while keeping things interesting.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Change doesn’t have to be such a serious matter. You’ll take a playful approach, experimenting to find the behaviors, people and environments that feel like a natural fit.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). People show and interpret feelings differently. What some people do because they like you won’t automatically register as affection to you. You’ll need to learn one another’s language for this to work.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Life without dreams is a mundane existence. If you can’t remember your dreams at night, be sure to do some dreaming during the day. Mentally send yourself to places that delight you.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). It seems you’re rating yourself on a value scale that you’ve outgrown. What once seemed important is now less so, and new matters take precedence. Perhaps it’s best not to rate yourself at all.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You sense you’ve gotten all you can out of a situation. You can continue doing what you know or risk a new experience. The unknown is scary, but that’s where the opportunity to grow exists.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). There are certain people who seem to bring out the strong emotions in you, and conflicting ones at that. You needn’t sort through it all at once, but there is a karmic bond here to untangle over time.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). If you were to only accept your strengths, you’d be missing out on your chance to connect with others, which usually occurs around weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (April 6). Your cosmic birthday gift will be motivation. You’ll be ultraproductive, highly effective and driven by the challenges you take on. It will all start with a new venture that shows itself in the next six weeks. There are personal reasons you want this prize, though it will contribute to your bottom line financially, too. Libra and Aquarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 30, 2, 12, 14 and 25.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTION: “I’m a Taurus, and I’ve been told by more than one girlfriend on her way out of the relationship that I lack emotional intelligence. It’s true that it takes me a long time to figure out how I feel about things, if I ever do. How can I get that?”

A higher level of emotional intelligence will allow you to not only know how you feel about things but also manage your feelings. It will help you keep track of others’ feelings so you can tell where they’re at in the relationship and react accordingly.

Since you’re often not sure how you feel about things, it may help to get familiar with feelings and their characteristics on paper. Do an internet search for “feelings wheel” to find a circle chart that is a simple tool to identify feelings. When it comes to emotions, starting with very rudimentary language is best, as too much intellectualizing and fancy vocabulary have a way of leading people out of emotional clarity and into the rational and logical realms that can be removed from the heart of feelings.

Come back for more on emotional intelligence tomorrow.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Before transforming into the comic hero Ant-Man, Paul Rudd made a name for himself playing the sensitive dreamboat, and later the comedic foil in films such as “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Anchorman.” The actor, screenwriter and producer exemplifies the passionate fire of his sign with the trademark Aries qualities of surprise, spontaneity and youthfulness on tap.
