Time to celebrate at home with ‘special occasion’ takeout

As we all settle into this new (temporary) stay-at-home reality, there will be birthdays, anniversaries and holidays celebrated in isolation. Welcome to “special occasion takeout.” While before we may have gathered at a special restaurant to celebrate a big event, these days we can still enjoy fabulous meals from our favorite spots — at home. Here are a few:

Ruth’s Chris’ Boston and Waltham locations are open for takeout and offering 25% off all orders of $75 or more when placed through the restaurant by phone. They have a special takeout menu that makes it easy to order for a group, so if your family members are steak lovers, this is a great option for a home celebration. In Boston, they have put together a $43 prix fixe menu, which includes a salad, an entree and side. Through Sunday, if you purchase an e-gift cards of $100 or more, you’ll get a card worth 25% of your purchase to use on your next visit.

Michael Mina’s Pabu at Millennium Tower in Downtown has put together a takeout menu filled with their favorites, available for pickup or takeout on GrubHub. With items ranging from their gourmet maki rolls to comfort food options like the Tower Burger and Chef’s Ramen, your celebration at home can be just as fun as a night out. They also have platters made for a family, with items like char-grilled American Wagyu Flank served with fried rice, french fries, mustard greens, soy pickle and lotus chips. Orders are available from noon to 8 p.m. daily.

Have pasta fans at home? Tuscan Kitchen’s Seaport and Burlington locations are open for takeout, curbside pickup and local delivery from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Try the penne alla bolognese or the ravioli quattro formaggi and pair those with one of their gourmet pizzas for an Italian feast. Delivery is available via DoorDash and they are also offering e-gift cards and physical gift cards for purchase online. And through Monday, they will be donating 25% of all gift card sales to their staff members who are unable to work for tips at this time.

While we may not be able to enjoy the live music and ambiance of Eddie V’s at the Prudential Center now, we can still have a piece of that experience at home. Their takeout menu features lots of their restaurant favorites, as well as family style options. For the DIY set, they are offering a set of uncooked cuts of their signature hand-carved steaks packaged with Eddie V’s steak seasoning for guests to prepare themselves. Takeout and delivery is available from noon to 8 p.m. daily. Guest can call the restaurant directly to order at 617-358-9990 and can view the full menu online.
