‘Armed and dangerous’ Hudson man wanted in fatal shooting case
A Hudson man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a woman in that town is being called “armed and dangerous,” with the DA alerting the public to stay away if they see him.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Luis Santos, 23, of Hudson, both Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Hudson Police Chief Michael Burks announced Friday.
“Santos should be considered armed and dangerous and members of the public should not approach him,” the DA announced.
Authorities said the victim of Thursday’s shooting was Karla Rodriguez, 20, of Framingham.
Rodriguez was shot inside a vehicle, prompting a lockdown at a nearby school and delaying transportation for students who were preparing to go home, according to the police and the district attorney.
Rodriguez was transported to a local hospital and was transported by medical flight to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester where she was pronounced dead early Friday morning.
The preliminary investigation suggests that shots were fired into a vehicle on Howe Street about 2 p.m. Thursday. The DA said Santos ran from the scene.
Santos is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, unlawful possession of a firearm and armed assault with intent to murder. Those charges “are expected to be upgraded pending a ruling from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on the cause and manner of death,” the DA added.
Santos is described as a 5-foot-10 white male with brown hair and brown eyes.
Any member of the public with information about Santos whereabouts should immediately contact Hudson Police at 978-562-7122, ext. 215, or Massachusetts State Police at 781-897-6600 or 508-820-2121 after hours.
The case remains open, the DA added.
