Boston Herald EMass Top 25 football rankings

1. Catholic Memorial (7-0) – Knights begin the second season in hopes of defending their Div. 1 South sectional title.

2. Mansfield (6-1) – Hornets rolled to another victory to remain unbeaten against Bay State competition.

3. St. John’s Prep (6-1) – Eagles will be rested and ready to begin the quest to return to Gillette Stadium.

4. Natick (7-0) – Redhawks simply one of several contenders in Div. 2 South fully capable of winning the championship.

5. Central Catholic (6-1) – Ayden Pereira capped off a superb first season as signal caller with another solid effort.

6. Everett (6-1) – Crimson Tide could be looking at Central Catholic in a sectional semifinal.

7. King Philip (6-1) – Warriors haven’t allowed more than 15 points in a game this season.

8. Melrose (7-0) – Other than a hard-fought win over Stoneham, the Red Raiders were barely challenged during the season.

9. Revere (7-0) – Patriots got off to a quick start against Salem and never looked back.

10. Canton (7-0) – Defense delivered the goods once again versus North Attleboro.

11. Tewksbury (6-1) – Not a bad season considering the Redmen returned just three starters.

12. Danvers (7-0) – Max Leete made the most of his second chance and the Falcons remained unbeaten.

13. Wellesley (6-1) – Matt Maiona has put together quite an impressive senior season.

14. Duxbury (5-2) – Dragons certainly one of the favorites, if not the favorite, to defend their Div. 3 South sectional crown.

15. Concord-Carlisle (7-0) – Patriots certainly have a slew of different players who can do some serious damage on the offensive side of the ball.

16. Reading (6-1) – Rockets gradually pulled away from upset-minded Lexington in the second half.

17. Franklin (5-2) – Only losses have come to the iron of the Hockomock Kelley-Rex.

18. Brockton (4-3) – Boxers rose to the challenge to knock off previously unbeaten New Bedford.

19. Ashland (7-0) – Shook off a slow start to roll past Norwood to remain undefeated heading into the tournament.

20. Holliston (6-1) – Panthers head into the Div. 5 South tournament as one of the favotites.

21. Barnstable (5-2) – The reward, if you want to call it, for a good season is a quarterfinal date at King Philip.

22. BC High (4-3) – Eagles ended Xaverian’s playoff run with a strong defensive effort.

23. Andover (5-2) – The legend of freshman quarterback Scott Brown grows after his last-second miraculous run to beat Lowell.

24. Hingham (6-1) – Top-seeded team in Div. 3 South would love to get another crack at Patriot League rival Duxbury.

25. Stoughton (6-1) – The Ais brothers are causing some serious headaches for opposing teams.
