Gordon Hayward back shooting as he rehabs from broken hand
DENVER — Gordon Hayward appears to be progressing as hoped after suffering a broken left hand on November 9 in San Antonio.
The Celtic forward had surgery two days later, and was set to get his sutures changed late last week.
“He had his next follow-up meeting today,” Brad Stevens said before the Celtics met the Nuggets here Friday night. “He just has it every four or five days or so. But he’s shooting the ball. I don’t know how much else.
“He is able to run up and down the court and do conditioning and do the bike and everything else. So I don’t think he’s going to lose a lot on that end. That sometimes is the issue with these injuries is that, especially leg injuries, it takes you a while to get back up to speed conditioning-wise. But I don’t think that’ll be the case. I think that he’ll be able to maintain that pretty well, which is good.”
As for when Hayward began shooting, the coach said, “One of these days this week. I don’t know if it’s one-handed, normal, I don’t know what it is. All I know is that I got an e-mail from the guys that are back there (medical staff) that said he shot.”
